The Problem

A lot of people are too lazy/busy and don’t (or cannot) exercise/go to the gym and don’t know how to eat well.

Especially during a pandemic and lockdowns, it might be hard for people to even get out of the house.

User research was conducted in order to get more information on what users think about exercising & health. Some of the questions include:

  • Demographic (Gender, age, occupation)
  • Do you exercise? What exercises do you do?
  • How important is it for you to stay fit?
  • What’s your motivation for exercise?
  • Where do you exercise?
  • Do you exercise alone or with friends?
  • What do you think of exercising outside of gyms?
  • Would you say you know the proper way to exercise?
  • Do you want to be educated on how to exercise?
  • Do you think eating properly is important? Do you want to?
  • How important is it for you to track your progress of health/nutrition/exercise?

All-in-one App

Compared to all the other competitors, Squad Up will have features that make it a unique all-in-one app.

Key Findings

The key findings gathered from the interviews include:

  • Most people are exercising and think it is important to keep exercising
  • Almost everyone do different types of exercises
  • Some people exercise alone, some people don’t
  • Many people do not know how to exercise ‘properly’
  • Almost everyone wants to be educated on how to
  • exercise ‘properly’
  • According 14/15 people, it is essential to track progress of health/nutrition/exercise.

The Squad Up app should:

  • SquadUp is essential because people need to keep exercising from home, but needs to have more unique features
  • An ‘exercising with friends’ feature helps keep the app engaging, also shows friends’ progresses
  • There needs to be varieties of exercises
  • Prototype needs to cater to people that exercise alone, as well as with friends
  • There needs to be availability for exercise tutorials/consultation
